Three Days till we depart. Mike and I are traveling to Italy for twelve days. We will be seeing some new sights, some old friends and walking down memory lane. We leave on Sunday, Feb. 28th and arrive in Rome on March 1st. We plan on making our way to Venice, but are unsure of our exact journey there. Adventurous! We are going to rent a car and just follow the highway and see where it takes us. We have never been to Venice so looking forward to seeing this romantic city. On Thursday, March 4th we will go to Florence to meet some very dear friends from Turkey; Ates and Canan Ontuna. We will spend the night and next day in Florence and then drive to Perugia, a beautiful medevial city. They have two great festivals, one is a jazz festival and the other a chocolate festival. Would love to visit Perugia during the chocolate festival but that will have to be another trip. In Perugia we will connect with colleagues of Mike and Ates' when they were all in graduate school at the University of Colorado engineering school. Mike and I had a delightful time seeing Vincenzo, one of his sons and lovely wife a couple of years ago, and looking forward to spending time with them again. From Perugia we will go to Rome to see more colleagues from Colorado. Paulo Croce lives with his family in Rome and we plan on spending some time with he and his family. We are also hoping that another colleague, Sebastiano who lives in Naples will be able to join us with his family for some reunion time.
Ates and Canan head back to Turkey Sunday night and Mike and I will travel to a suburb of Rome called Frascati. Mike has a conference there so we will spend the remainder of our time in Frascati. Frascati is very special to us, it was where we spend the first part of our honeymoon twenty-eight years ago this coming May. Please travel along with us on Italian adventure!
